In one line of research, my collaborators and I examine people's intuitive judgments under uncertainty. We investigate how people make trait inferences about others, and how they make predictions of their own future behaviors.
In another line of research, we examine how person and situation factors affect people's responses to societal standards and expectations. Topics of interest include how people evaluate themselves and others in light of norms of behavior and appearance, how people intend to behave when their private preferences conflict with social norms, and how women respond to bodily changes following breast cancer surgery.
